What is a SARB?

Good morning. This week I’d like to talk about SARBs.  SARB stands for Student Attendance Review Board. It is a process that begins when students have too many absences. There are three ways a family can be SARBed. The first way is a student has 3, 6 and 9 unexcused absences. The second is if a student has 3, 6, or 9 unexcused tardies over 30 minutes. The third was is if a student has 10, 12, 14 or 16 excused absences. When this process begins, families will get a letter in the mail informing them of the meeting day and time. The first SARB is a phone call with Ms Forshee. The second (and third for excused absences) is an in person meeting. At the third (fourth for excused absences) the family will be referred to the district office. Students who are on transfers may have their transfers denied or revoked if their child has been SARBed. Please see our website for more information on SARBs or email Kristi Forshee at [email protected].
